So I was looking for some beadlocks, and a spare tire. I am currently running 38x14.150 R16.5 Toyo MT's on black rock crawler rims, they are at about 99.99% tread. Only a year old, only off road once. I found a guy that has 5 37" MTR's on H1 beadlocks with 95% tread on them. He wants to trade. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Or would I spend more money with the spacers for my d60 and 14ff, than it would cost to just turn my rims into beadlocks, and get a spare? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are the H1's recentered? If so I would say yeah its a pretty good deal.

I wouldn't recommend doing DIY beadlocks on your 16.5" wheels. The inner bead will still be susceptable to coming off because of the 16.5 design.

If you want to air down with 16.5" a double beadlock like the H1, Stazworks, or Hutchinson are your best option.

MTR's tend to load up the tread blocks in mud. Not a good tire for the PNW.
If the H1's are not recentered, you have some work ahead for you. My solution is a dually D60 front and D70HD with SRW 14FF hubs for the rear. There has been a lot of info posted regarding the fitment issues of H1's.

Yeah I have read up on it. They are not recentered. I will have to talk to the guy and see if he has some re centered ones. if not I think I am just going to pass on the whole thing. Also, I was wrong about the size of my rims, they are 16's. not 16.5's.
