Is this a little to much angle?

I think the shackle angle is off. It looks like it is sitting to close to the frame to me. However, I would really like you guys to let me know what you think.

I put some new 5150 shocks on along with some modified shock towers and moved the attachment point on the B52 back one hole. I should be albe to move the spring forward on the B52 and correct that angle...if need be.

yep, I'd say go another bolt hole forward. That angle would be pretty good if the spring was flat.

heres what I ended up with, but this pic is empty frame:

Here's a lot of discussion on the shackle angle...starting with post 1482

I have mine in the hole furthest forward, stock rear k5 springs with the overload taken out, and ez inch blocks (1" forward) the shackle is almost vertical (stock bushing location) and with no shocks it is quite soft...I know the angle going back is better for flex travel, but if I do get more angle I need to add more leaves...I hope the shocks help

Thanks everyone. That is what I figured but I wanted to be sure.

@Sandypants......Spangdahlem! I loved it there. I actually lived on Bitburg housing and drove to Spang each day. Out of all the places I was stationed Germany was the best. 1994-1998. AMMO.

How does it ride?

My angle is like yours. I was a little concerned but with others advice I decided to leave it and see how I liked it after notching the body mount bracket.

With my 56in springs the axle location is still pretty far forward.

It still rides fine but I have not flexed it much with it that far back. Not much sway at all. Which I guess you would expect with it that far back. Hopefully it doesn't make the back into a saggy butt. Hate that look.

Dang it, I forgot to get those pictures Sandy wanted. I will get them tomorrow...I hope. Been busy around here.

LOL. Yeah I know that. Turkey, Saudi, Italy, etc. I spent a bit of time TDY while I was there too. It is nice to save up the perdiem and splurg when you get home. It doesn't add up to as muc as it should but a couple hundred bucks is better then going in the hole.

Yeah, Bitburg only had the housing, commisary, bx, watering hole and very small few other things. I know they had just built a club on the old part old part of Bitburg right before we left. That part was already sold back to the Germans. It was a part time titty bar/hang out for some. I went once or twice and it wasn't great. There were much better places to go but it was close.

Those pics you asked for are next....and....thanks for your service!

Here are the pics of my shock setup. I bought the stamped Ford F250 towers from the local stealership. I think they were $30 to 40 bucks. I cut the towers off at the bottom bend. Then I cut a frame width piece off of the bottom scrap measured and welded it to the tower upright. Did quite a few mockups before I committed to welding.

I moved the brake line hanger from its factory mount position and welded it to the bump stop mount, well, actually more like tack welded them into place. I can cut them off pretty easy if needed but they will not come loose easily.

I then cut some off of the sides to clear movement while flexing. I may not have needed to but it made me feel better. I cut on the outside of the curve so it still has some extra support down at the bottom. I don't think it really needed it since I have three bolts on the side and one through the "L" piece I welded on the top portion for bracing.

The right tower just misses the steering shaft, "XJ" style. I tilted the towers rearward a tad since it helped miss the steering shaft also. I had to trim the inner fenders to fit the shock and reservoirs. Still have to do some touch up painting, I have been lazy lately, but it is functional and works great.

This is a better shot of the clearance on the shock tower. Well, it looked better on my PC. There is about 1/4 of an inch clearance but it doesn't look like it in the pic.
