While you guys are identifying tool boxes how about mine. I picked this one up for $100 a while back. It's got pneumatic tires on one end but I'm not sure they came on it originally. Anyone know how old this one is & how about new sliders for it?

the design is certainly snap-on. Just saw one of those about 30 minutes ago at a customer's home shop. Never took note if those came with pneumatic tires. Probably intended as a cart or airport box where they knew it would be moved often. Precursor to spring loaded casters.

those pneumatic tires look to be an add on. try craftsman i think they have replacement parts for there boxes. im sure most of that stuff is interchangable. whats going on with the pro comp shocks?

Does it have drawers on both sides? Does it have a little hitch sticking out at the bottom on the opposite end of the cabinet? My father in law has one like I described, it is an airport box, designed to be pulled by a tow motor.

its an island box, used primarily at airports... 100 bucks is rediculously cheap, good score... you need to contact snapon to get ahold of a dealer in your area, give him the box number and he should be able to get you slides, although unless you bring him all the old ones up front, he will probably only give you one or two sets at a time... and yes the slides are still available, if there's no number stickered or stamped onto the box, there should be a number on the slides, probably an 8-227 or 8-267, etc

About how much would the slides cost each? This thing wouldn't still be covered under warranty would it? Any idea how old it may be?

well the warranty is lifetime to the original purchaser, but that is enirely up to the dealer whether he enforces it, some will, some wont, generally depends on your attitude, i know if someone came on my truck and said "i bought this at the fleamarket for $100 and you need to warranty all the drawer slides" id tell him to get fooked, but if you came in and explained you picked up a good deal on a box and need some new slides and asked "how much would it cost for new slides for all the drawers" id probably make you buy 2 or 3 sets and warranty the rest.... for a set of slides for that box? probably between 15-30$ per drawer.... try a little white lithium first though

You do catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I tried the lithium grease, it helped a lot. Thanks for the reply.

there are ways ive told a guy to fock off... some people just dont have the common sense to be allowed to deal with me.. and apparently some people just need to be appeased to the tune of $8.00 and told to never bother me or any other dealers again... but that happens when you force another dealer who happens to be a friend of mine to hold onto a screwdriver reversible blade for warranty when he doesnt have one, then you show up 6 weeks later and he cant remember you from adam, and you file a complaint with corporate... morons...
