is this a super charger or turbo charger????

that is in fact a centrifugal supercharger........a roots supercharger is a twin screw design.

Vortec, Whipple, and some others make superchargers like that. it's mechanically driven by the engine its a supercharger. A turbocharger is driven by exhaust gasses only.

this is a Holset turbo........where you have a pulley it has a turbine and turbine housing.

centrifugal supercharger. Runs off of belt power like a super but uses the compressor style of a turbo. It is a good way to add a supercharger to a cramped engine compartment without dealing with all the plumbing and custom exaust manifolds a turbo uses. Only draw back is that they have to spin really really fast to develop good boost and like any other supercharger the more they boost the more parasitic drag there is on the motor.

But I'd say nothings universal about putting a turbo on a V8 gasser. custom more like it. get your headers put them on upside down on the opposite side weld the turbo flanges to the headers....then make your tubes. plus intercooler and sealed intake. boost reference your fuel pump. ect
 
If you're thinking about either a turbo or a blower you need lower compression pistons in your engine. Depending on how much boost you want to make will depend on if you will require blower/turbo pistons and also if you'll want a 4 bolt main engine. Keep in mind a SBC with a 6-71 blower and 16 lbs of boost will net you a final compression ratio close to 18:1 while under boost.
 
...and like any other supercharger the more they boost the more parasitic drag there is on the motor.

The only thing I'll add is that the centrifugal superchargers are more efficient in terms of heat. They heat the air charge less per lb of boost compared to a Roots-style SC, which does results in a denser charge of air. IIRC, they also require less effort to spin, and as a result have less of a parasitic drag on the motor.

As mentioned before though, they do require more speed to achieve the same level of boost, compared to a Roots. Where the Roots produces boost on tap, even in the lower RPM range, the centrifugal superchargers won't really boost until you really get it spinning in the higher-RPMs. If you already have all the low-end torque you need, and you just want to extend your torque curve further up into higher RPMs, a centrifugal may be the way to go.

Different style for different uses, that's all. Pick your poison...
 
That is a Vortec V1 super charger, No such thing as a V trim stated in the ad.
Looks to me by what is written on the blue caps that is an SC trim. Depending on pully size they give 9 lbs to 20 lbs of boost.
V1 are small block superchargers. I guess you could adapt one to a big block but I dont know if it has enough CFM to make a lot of HP. From what the pics show it is an engine specific Kit SC. Most likely SBC. If it is in good condition 1600 is a good price for everything including the FMU.
Centrifugal Sc have come a long way lately. They are just as efficient as Roots Blowers now. The newer ones can get almost full boost at 2000 RPM.
The V1 in the add is an older style does not get full boost till aprox. 3000 RPM. Depending on pulley size
