Can someone help me please. I just picked up this 14 bolt 1 ton rear end yesterday. I am trying to get all the specs on it. I figured out that it has 3.73 gears, and a 10 1/2" ring. While searching to buy the correct detroit locker for it, the question keeps comming up asking if it is an open free floater. Can someone take a look at these pics, and help me.
thanks, and God bless,

ive got two of them from what I can tell its called a gov lock its kind of a limited slip but when it locks its locked.

The sad part is that inside there is a weighted spring thing that when it spins to fast the weight swings out and catches another part and completly locks the rear. supposably the peice the weight rides on is the weak links. Go Detroit If you can or just run this for now. It will work well in mud applications but on rocks your taking your chances!

oh ya I was talking about the diff inside it is not an open diff that is.

That is a 14 bolt full floater rear (axels bolt in from the sides

You want a D60 but a D44 will do depending on your tire size, wheeling techniques and all around purpose for you truck. Good luck in finding a D60 in this part of the U.S. North and West have them but your talking 1k for one that needs rebuilding. One ready to go will set you back 3k.
