Is this bad?

is it bad if you change your tranny fluid, etc about 350 miles ago and you check it and it is burnt to hell? 92 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton... towing a trailer down to Laramie, Wy. Im gonna change filter and fluid again today. Man i hope this trans dont give up on me on the way down. I still got a couple hundred miles to go!

if your worried, drive for 20 minutes take a break for 10
drive for 20 etc. It will take longer, but it will get ya there.

since i last changed the fluid and filter? 350 miles or so you shoulda seen all the sludgy stuff that came off the magnet dealie near the drain plug... its a 700r4

I'll recommend the Lucas stuff to get you to Laramie. After that, tranny fluid cooked at 350 miles is never a good sign.

You run a 241 case correct? If so, my tranny would be a bolt in and I've got a spare TH400 on the way so I need the room in the garage.

the transmission has been great, but that 350 miles with the trailer suuuure gave it a work out... and im not even quite halfway there yet

What color was it? What'd it smell like? How does the tranny act when you're driving it? Does it have a cooler? Do you have a temp guage?

Oh yeah, what gear are you running it in at what speed with how heavy of a trailer?

brown, smelt like burnt tranny fluid, tranny acts fine when driving, just runs higher rpm;s to keep the trailer goin, so no use of overdrive, no cooler and no temp gauge

As long as there's nothing in the filter and it acts fine I say change the fluid and run it (not like you have a choice at this point anyways), and change it again when you get there. Might wanna consider a bigass cooler when you get around to it too. I can take a pic of the ports to use the next time I get home.
