I'm a newb to the world of tearing into differentials.
I just brought home a 14bff and when I opened it up I found this.
Is that hole supposed to be perfectly round, and I just got screwed?
Or it's that no big deal?

I've seen some of the bible stuff, but I've never seen or heard of these holes being oblong and slightly off center like that. Down in the middle where the pin is it looks to be alright, the isn't out of round or anything.

They are not perfectly round except down in the cross-shaft bore. Yours does look a little more mis-aligned than usual, but coulda been a bad day at the factory. Your bores look ok to me where the cross-shaft lives. I'd say run it unless you just feel like tearing it all down to be sure. Here's mine:

That is completely normal. No problem running it as is.

Thanks for the piece of mind, I can't see yours since I'm not yet a paid member. I just knew my other one wasn't that bad. When I asked the guy I bought it from he smarted off about how it must be my first time to open one, rather than being of any help. I'll keep that in mind the next time he tries to buy something off of me.
 
Yeah. The pics just show that the inner machined surfaces and the outer 'oval' looking surfaces are not necessarily related.
 
Kind of looks like someone hit it with a hammer. I haven't seen that bad but like the other responses its fine
 
Looks like the shaft bore is machined after the two pieces are mated together. The outer half-circle cut-away in each casting is probably just to save machining time and tooling wear. Apparently there is a pretty big tolerance on that feature.
