I have been looking for a first gen locally and came across this 71 on craigslist

http://denver.craigslist.org/pts/849530686.html

I went and looked at it today, the frame looks strait and I dident see any cracks. The body is rough, floorboards are rusted through as well as the rockers and bottom rear of the doors. Has no top or motor. He is asking $500, what do you guys think?

My current truck will be donating its drivetrain so not worried about it not having a motor.

Yeah the no title thing is another issue, it is a hassle to get it re-titled but not impossible.

It depends a lot on what you plan to do with it. If it's going to be "nice" and you want to end up with a rust-free 1st Gen, you'd be better off paying more money for a truck in better shape to begin with.

It's easy to be seduced my a low purchase price, but rust repair is VERY expensive and time consuming. This is something I know a little bit about...

Agreed, time and money both run away together in the end.

If your looking for rust free, pm me, I've got one here in VT.

Thanks Greg, I was looking at some of the rust work you were doing in your build thread..WOW thats a lot of work! Finding a rust free and reasonably priced first gen in Colorado is shaping up to be difficult. I'm not looking to restore one to show like condition, it will be an off road toy to replace my truck. The plan is to just swap my drivetrain into a blazer body, slap on a fresh coat of grey primer and wheel! I now have 3 kids and would like to be able to take everyone on an outing once and a while, and since the wife is not keen to the idea of riding in the bed the hunt for a blazer is on!

I actually went to look at this blazer, It is tore up! there are no bolts screws nothing to put it back together, and the rust, o the rust every where

What do you thik?

I think I can help with your delema. I have a '71 (Project) 2-wheel. You could go either way 4x4 or 2x4 All body work done. Because you live where there is snow, I will install a hard top (truck). I will sell with a newly built 350 and 700r4. Lots of extra parts. To much to list. Over $10,000 invested. Yours for $6000. No trades and firm pricing. (Title included)
