I recently killed a $300 roller cam in 1500 miles....:mad::mad:

Fuel pump lobe went flat, I did not have anybolts hitting the pushrod, they were all aftermarket "bolt kit" bolts.

I did however have a standard pushrod, the following link says that the metal used in roller camshafts, can be hardened by standard pushrods and I need this pushrod with the roller tip.

Did some more research, I guess this is the ultimate solution. They also offer a Bronze Tipped pushrod.

If it were me I would just go to an electric pump, but, yes I have heard of lobes getting wiped on roller cams due to the pushrod.

I concidered going electric, as it would save me from buying a new cam.

Then I though that since my truck is made for mud, I don't want to risk it dieing when it gets wet, or submerged.

my patrol has a electric pump and i regularly submerge it and have had no issues with the fuel pump.

The majority of folks 'round here use electric pumps w/o problems in bogging trucks. I chose to stay mech. since I do not run an alt but you should run a hardened pushrod with a roller. Mine also came from Summit but was less $$.

I agree, just get a good electric pump. If you do a good job of wiring it you should not have any issues.

X2. A good electric pump and wiring job will probly cost less than the pushrod, much less cam and pushrod. When/if you replace the cam, you can have the option again

It depends, some roller cams are made of more than one piece and do not require a different fuel pump pushrod or distributor gear. And some require one but not both, and some require both. But it is true. I used a bronze one on mine. But mine did not require a spec dist gear.
