I did this not for looks but to keep the rust in check. Now if I could just dip the whole thing in rust killer :haha::haha::haha:

Still needs to be wet sanded and cleaned a little but will work for the winter. It was hard getting used to an electrical D/A because the speed is not like an air tool. For me this was a big accomplishment due to my health. I will sleep good tonight.

looking good Lawrence, was wondering how that was going since I hadnt seen anything on it in a while. I definitely think its better to nip it in the butt before it gets out of control for sure.

LOL I just noticed you can see where the North Dakota emblem and stickers were on the door in last picture.

Hey, don't laugh, its do-able.

Back in '93 I had a friend who owned a custom trailer shop. He built hundreds of boat and other type trailers.
Mostly aluminum, but he was branching out into steel.
One day I pulled up and he had about 25 or 30 steel boat trailers on a big semi flatbed. I told him he had forgotten to paint them.
He said he was sending them to Texas to be hot-dip galvanized.
I looked again, and told him that there was no way they were going to be able to dip some of them. They were way too big.
He told me he could do my entire truck. The setup would handle stuff larger than that.
I said that at least it would not rust then. Might look a little strange though.

We started talking, and he said that he had to rebuild the engine in his old hunting truck, and while he was at it, he planned to do an overhaul on most of the running gear and fuel system.
I suggested that he pull the cab and body off, strip them and have them dipped. Looks were not important, so he could just spray some cheap brown and green paint for camouflage and to kill the shine.

I know he contacted whoever was doing the work in Texas, and they said that they could do it.
But, he got killed in a helicopter crash about 3 months later, so it never happened.
I'm betting it could still be done though. Wish I knew where he was getting the work done, I would pass it along.
I would not do it to mine, but if I had a specialized truck I might. Would not paint it though. It would look too cool to paint.
Imagine a galvanized truck........
Sorta like a redneck DeLorian.
