My 1990 oldsmobile threw the pulley off of the harmonic balancer...Can I put the pulley back on the balancer or do I have to buy a whole new one? I'm on a time crunch so info asap is greatly appreciated:D

:haha:Man that car is going to be the end of you.
Yes you need to by a new one. They arnt supposed to separate .

Yeah I am in this 500 car for 800 so far and it's about to be 900, but after this hopefully I wont have to do anything for a while:doah: I just need it to last a few years because me spending 4000 on a good car just isn't in the plans right now...

Ok.... then here we go. The reluctor is part of the balancer(2 sets of teath). When you pull the balancer off you need a pully puller, dont thread the bolts to far or it will bend the plate. If you turn the crank with the teath bent you will chew the crank Sensor. If you move the crank sensor you have to line it up with the teath on the crank pully...or it will chew the crank sensor.

Score! Nobody had the harmonic balancer that was the same as my car, not even the junkyard! Turns out that the newer style balancer fits on the car and will work the same. $65 for the balancer and bolt. Super easy job to do once you get the part IF you have an impact gun. Car is back on the road again:D
