hey guys im mocking up the rear shackle mount for my 52's and was wondering what you guys thought about this location. this is the same location some of you use with stock 52's, but since im using lifted springs, im wondering if it will work for me or not. here are some pics. the shackle still isnt straight up and down w/o weight on it, it should be to maximumize flex right? i dont know so im asking for your help. the leaf spring is held up right now with the jack (i dont think that matters). any help would be much appreciated. figured id ask now before i get the holes and its too late. anyways here are pics:

why not use the stock shackle hanger hole and the rear most mount on the B52 brackets. less holes to put in your frame. It will obviously not move the axle as far forward as you have it now, but it will still be further forward then stock.

It looks like you have the B52 bracket mounted in the forward set of holes. that combined with were you are hanging the spring may require a big section of rad support being removed.

if you are going to move the shackle hanger like you have it pictured then you still have 8 positions you can put the B52 in to fine tune the shackle angle.

thanks for the heads up. im trying to move the axle as far forward as possible tho, so i dont want to move the front bracket back or the leaf springs. i dont care bout drilling holes, im just trying to get the best shackle angle before i make the holes.

How does it look at ride height with weight on it?

i havent even drilled the holes yet, thats just free right there. i guess ill just go with it as is and drill the holes and adjust accordingly. i thought you wanted the shackle to be as close to up and down as possible when free to maximumize droop.

A vertical shackle will ride alot worse then what you have right there. The way you have your shackle in the pics is probably pretty good especially since you don't have weight on it yet. When you put some weight on it the shackle will likely kick back a little farther and should offer a GREAT ride and really good flex.

You don't want a vertical shackle. You want forward like you have there.

alright cool thanks, i thought that you wanted a vertical or as close to it as possible when there is no weight on it. cool, ill drill everything and get them mounted up :)

Yep, I think you're on the right track. With the amount of arch that's in those springs at no load, they should kick that shackle back quite a bit with weight. Looks good to me.

I'd bolt it into the factory location and put some the weight on it to see where you really are. This way you won't have drilled any holes and will have some information that is useful in determining what you want to do.

just my .02.

Id run it like that--as soon as you put weight on it it will kick back a little. Probably as far back as mine are.

Here is a pic of mine with some weight on it, Thats with 6" lift Tuff Country 52" rears in front, I ain't sure how it rides yet. you have to look real close, the shackle is kicked back just a little and I used the factory front hangers, just moved them forward.

HiJack on, how much lift would you say those 6 in rear springs gave you up front? I thought the basic rule of thumb with the 52's up front was 4" over the actual lift, and for some reason that doesn't look like a 10" lift to me, but it could be the picture..? What size tires are those? I appreciate the info and help, and sorry for the hi jack MuddyBuddy

Just an aside I moved my axle so far forward that if you plan on going full hi steer, the tie rod and drag link my hit each other. I would use the stock holes right now and get weight in it and then change it around.

I probley gained around 9" lift, the tires are 35's, I did take the over load off

James, didnt read the thread...

But that looks pretty good. With the axle on the shackle would be fully drooped. Im sure itll sitt down a whole hell of alot once the axles on. Id run it.
