isolated 24v system?

Is it possible to say, run a 24v winch on a '79 K10 that has 2 12 volt batteries? I know you can wire them in series to get 24 volts, but is there a way to do it so you can still keep the batteries running the 12 volt truck and a 24 volt winch together?

you can run a series/parallel switch.... this just came up, pertaining to running a welder..

That would work? Is there a wiring diagram for running that switch and where to get it? I was thinking about doing an onboard welder eventually...would be nice to do them all in one.

You should be able to get the switch from a marine supply and I think even NAPA has one:
