So, I have a 2006 Jetta tdi that has an AC issue. The compressor started squealing one day. It appeared to be coming from the clutch. It only made the noise at an idle, and stopped if you shut the AC off. But, it was still blowing perfectly cold while running.

So, I replaced the compressor and the idler pulley, vacuumed the system and started filling it back up. By second can, it was squealing again. The pressure at the time was 220ish high side and 22ish low side. So, I then replaced everything else... condenser, expansion valve, and filter /dryer. Vacuumed, starting filling, exact same problem. The entire system is new... what am I missing?

Send a PM to Bjtfsj , he's a former VW and Audi tech (and my brother)

start it squealing, spray a little water on the belt.
if it stops, you have a belt problem.
bad belt, wrong tensioner, bad pulley.

too much head pressure can cause this, but it usually gets worse with speed

Guess I forgot to add that part... I tried a new belt at the same time as the tensioner. Didn't change anything.

figured you did. spray it anyway.
need to isolate the problem.
can't give my usual detailed reasoning, having to type with left hand only. sorry.

if i get the use of my right back, i will elaborate.
