4300lbs. :eek1: thats with the tank almost full and the toolbox full.

not bad for a truck with one tons and five 44's on steel wheels. I don't think I can get much more off though. I just tapered the front with skinned, cut fenders and a skinned hood. other then completely removing the front end and cab thats probably the lightest it will ever be.

In full street trim my K5 weighed 5800 lbs. At it's lightest trail trim I can get it down to about 5200...

It's probably a little heavier now since I added the doubler. :doah:

4300 lbs is comp buggy territory...:eek1:

I got tired of towing extra weight from home to the trail and back. it was waste of gas in my tow rig. looks like I did a pretty good job of putting the truck on a diet. before it was full bodied with way to many tools and spare parts.

these are ones that were taken this weekend.

it looks like a truck but the sheetmetal is just for show. everything is skinned. I took this out of the hood.

the cab is barren. its amazing what carpet and insulation weigh. there is no heat, radio, speakers, and soon the dash pad will be leaving. I have just been going at it nascar stlye. every ounce counts. a part might only weigh 1-2 lbs but if you remove enough of them they add up.

I have noticed a difference in my towing MPG since it was fullbodied. here it is before I started removing stuff. it had a useless show bar, big tubular steps, inner fenders, 3 toolboxes in the bed full of crap, a bedliner that you couldn't even tell was there since the bed was completely full.

Shows that I haven't been keeping up I guess...I didn't know they were that light now. :eek1:

They actually have a minimum weight (around 2K) and they generally build them as light as possible and then add water to the tires to get back up to the minimum weight.
