ITS ALIVE! But I have a fuel leak, need part number for std flare filter

I scoured my old wix filter catolog last night, but they dont list a fuel filter with female flare fittings for 3/8 tube on both ends. There were a few with that on one end only, the other end was a hose barb for 3/8 rubber line. There are some that had 1/8 pipe thread fittings you could adapt cheaply though,or if you must spend 30 bucks in fittings you might as well get a water seperator filter, that screws on like an oil filter, the base they screw onto has 1/2 inch pipe threads, easily adapted with inexpensive fittings from home deopt. Is this for fuel injection(high pressure?)if it is,forget the separator idea.I'd be glad to look for other part numbers if you think you can use something different. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the 15/8's tank of gas aint much to worry about if the tank is full that is lol. My gauge reads way over full when i top it up. run it a couple days, then it drops to about a half tank. If its at a half and i add $5 (well 10-15 now lol) itll go up to 3/4 of tank. Its just a little slow at droppin lol.

That tank was empty when it was installed and I only put in 3 or 4 gallons at most /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif
My silver blazer I can fill it up, it goes 1/4" past full and will stay there for 100miles before it hits the full mark. After 1/2tank foget it... find a station. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Mine shows full even before the tank is full as well. Was filling mine up last night while getting ready for trip this weekend and noticed it said full and then added 5 more gallons. By the time mine reads quarter it time for refill!!!
My sender unit is the old stamped on strainer. I just cut the strainer off and tied on a simple cheap general in tank filter and put a glass type filter up by the carb. Used to have this elaborate electric setup but got rid of it and went with simple mechanical. Now everything works!

Bringing this back

I'm having the same problem with the oe filter not connecting to my flared lines. I don't want to convert everything to AN, so what filters use 3/8" female flare on both ends, or have a 3/8" flare on one end and a 3/8" barb on the other? Part numbers would be greatly appreciated. It is for a TBI engine so the carb filters wount cut it.

I found the filters that solve the problem. The '83 TBI Camaro used a filter that has a 3/8" flare outlet and a 3/8" hose barb inlet side. Also the '84 Corvette filter had a 3/8" hose barb on both sides. I used the Corvette filter and it works fine. I wish I'd found it before I flared the old lines but better late then never.

cool, good to know, I'm about ready to swap things onto a new frame so I'll have to use the hard and rubber lines from an 86 non-tbi on a TBI setup :thumb:
