It's rigs like this, that make me glad.......

That's why you should never buy a car or truck when you've been drinking. You make wake up the next morning and go, "what was I thinking?". :eek1:

you guys are all too critical. all this truck needs is a run through a 200' mud pit with the windows down and the top off. the paint would look perfect then:waytogo:

No way, the Cadillac conversion isn't even close. That is a lowrider style truck, which they had in the 80's also (lowered Datsun's with daytons & chain steering wheels)

This truck is pure 80's Pep Boys stuff. You could walk down the Seat Cover aisle and come out with this truck. This is classic

Today's version of this truck would have NOS and some billet pedals to wake up that 305, a Wal Mart sound system (including a bass "tube"), a "custom" portable DVD player in the center console (plugged into the lighter socket), a Kragen dress up kit on the motor, those stick-on vents from Autozone they put on the sides, a billet gas door, some 22"s with some 1" thick Nitto Mudgrapplers stretched across them, neon lights and a rattlecan rebuild underneath, some tribal seat covers, vinyl decorations on the side, and spraypaint on every other interior panel

No way man that truck was an expensive mofo back when it was built. Ugly yes , Cheap no way, cutting edge stuff back in the day.

Thats a "Fourwheeler" cover truck circa 1990 LOL

That's true. I remember when I was a kid and first started looking at 4 wheel drives and driving off road, most of the mods you saw being done were bolt-on type stuff to get the truck looking like you wanted. No one back then would have dreamed of cutting out the fender openings on a nice looking '73-'87 Chevy. 52" spring swap? Who would have considered that? Removing the anti-sway bar? That was cutting edge and a little risky. Most of the lift springs back then were designed to just get the truck way up in the air to fit the slightly larger tires that everyone wanted and they didn't flex at all. I think the biggest tires in my town were 35s back then. I thought that guy was hard core too.

Things have come a long, long way in the past 15-20 years. I'm glad to see it. I think the rockcrawling competitions that first started in the early 2000s really helped our hobby to grow and got people started doing more extensive mods to their rigs that required a lot more fab skills than most guys had before. Also the proliferation of private off road vehicle parks and the fact that most guys started hauling their junk to the trail on trailers instead of driving their daily drivers on the trail really opened the door for more experimentation. Everyone wanted an unstoppable trail beast that could conquer any obstacle, but no one wanted to have to drive it work every day and feed it gas all the time.

Thankfully, forms follows function for the most part now days.

Corey, I know you've been thinking about a scoop like that for your rig  :D
