I'm sure most you have seen the 14bff on POR...
that has 2" hacked off...

I've been thinking about doing the same thing...
but machining a plate that has some tapped holes..
so I can attach a cover with more than 11 bolts..

I'm also going to strengthen the top of the housing...

What do you guys think???
Do you think I'll weaken the housing to much to run in a k5??

IMHO, should be fine. Just use a good 1/4" (or thicker) plate type covers, and good grade 8 bolts. That thing is bomb proof, I breag big rocks with mine all the time /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

It could hold up well if you know how to weld cast but none the less it is weaker. The good thing is that 14FF's are a dime a dozen most of the time!

Seems like there would be an issue with sealing the lower part of the cover. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Thanks for the comments Fred and Justin.. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I'm not going to weld a 1/4" plate to it..
I'm going to start with 1" plate...and cut the housing more
and mill a pocket to clear the gears...
Then...with the added thickness...
I can add more tapped holes... /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
