i've found another 68 swb c-10 & i think i can get it for $400...he told me $500 when i offered $300...& he was sorta hesitant & told me i was getting warmer when i offered $350. it has the typical rocker panel rust & the right fender & inner fender under the battery is rusted. the rest appears to be in fairly good shape. i have 1 68 c-10 already and i'm slowly resto/moding it and my wife really likes the 68 truck, so i was thinking about getting this 2nd 68 c-10, and build ''his & hers'' 68 c-10's.

the truck i just located has an I-6 & 3 on the tree, the truck has been sitting for about 15-20 yrs. I'm curious as to the size of the 6 banger. also, some yrs back, the old man said he was going to tune it up, & he pulled the plugs and never replaced them.:( so, i figure there is rust on the cylinder walls above all the pistons! anyone ever ran into this before? do you think i could put some marvel mystery oil or some kind of oil in the cylinders and slowly try and turn the engine over and clean up the cylinders enuff that it would run or did he doom it to a complete tear down? any help is appreciated...thanks ahead of time.

p.s.- will the 3 on the tree trans stand up to a mild smallblock? i also have a 4.3 v6 that may find its way into this truck....what say ye ole followers of the brotherhood.

any ideas? i just should buy it regardless huh...i think i will...but thats almost 1/2 my new air compressor money...but they still makin them i can save more $...i can't always find a 1st owner unmolested 68 c-10

quick way to tell the size of the six is to look at the height of the side plates on the dist side and the motor mount location on the block. 250's had a shorter side plate, and even engine mounts. the 292's have taller side plates and the engine mounts are off set on the pass side, as the fuel pump is relocated i believe. hope this helps

oh i plan on keeping the I-6 & 3 on the tree, i was going to pull this truck out of the weeds and do a tune up and change all the fluids and drive it, but i realized this truck was originally ran on leaded gas & doesn't have hardened valve seats...so, i'm going to have to have the head worked before i can drive it w/o hurting the head &/or valves, am i correct in this thinking.
