Ditched the unbelievably stupid C code intake for my 6.2 today. Couldn't find an agreement on the torque specs on here. Does anyone that has a service manual know the factory specs? I put everything to 23 ft lbs using the correct pattern.

Also once I plugged the tube for EGR solenoid, I noticed there was a T connection at the top of the tube leading to vacuum pump. Should I plug this as well?

Just got a new set of Stan's Headers. Waiting for jet hot coat. Will post again as soon as they are installed with full 3" duals.

Hopefully this thing will have a little more get up and go...Already noticed how much harder it is pulling air into the intake with a clean J code and any smoke I had coming from the stock exhaust is now gone.

Thanks for the advice.

Your gonna notice a gnarly resonance without the stock aircleaner and intake resonator.. and that torque sounds close enough, I actually think they're 17lb ft

Did you happen to check the ports on the intake compared to the gaskets? Casting quality on those intakes wasn't what I call stellar. On my J code I spent an hour or so port matching it with a carbide burr and a die grinder. Some ports needed almost a quarter inch removed and blended back into just to match the gaskets. I found the gaskets matched the heads very well...

If you don't plug the vacuum line you will get to listen to the rapid periodic whistle that the vacuum pump produces. Do you have any other items connected to the vacuum line? Or was it just emissions equipment (as was the case with my K10)?

FWIW, I do not remember having a significant change in sound between stock setup, stock minus the intake line & secondary filter, and 6.5 intake with 6.2 air cleaner but still no intake or secondary filter. With a cut-away air filter it had a nasty whistle, but none of the other combinations represented a noticeable deviation from the norm. :dunno:

Huh? I dunno? Mines a j code from gm but it definitely drone bad enough for me to change it back.. I have very good hearing and would like to maintain it.

Yeah, the whistling intake came with my Suburban. I threw it away as soon as I got home. I like quiet things, at least when it comes to intake & exhaust sounds.

You may well have hit a magical resonance length with your setup, I just wanted to point out that not everybody does.

That may very well be the case.. it just so happens that it's 100% stock, meaning I see the benefit of the resonator chamber.

Just to be clear, can you take a picture of what sort of chamber your truck has? Mine had a straight pipe leading from the air cleaner, through a secondary air cleaner, and up to the core support. No side branches. I've been thinking about putting the piping back on, as the little bit of air pressure doubtless helps it breathe at highway speeds.

Really interested to hear the results of the Stan's headers. If you haven't I would recommend turning up the fuel pump some as the combination of the J-code intake and headers should really need some more fuel. I have a newer style single plane J-code on mine and as said above had to do some port matching. Also turned up the fuel pump about 1/6 turn and have no black smoke.

Any updates on the Stan's headers? Just really interested in this and don't want this post to go the same way the other Stan's header posts have.......it's always somebody said they bought them but no follow-up!

Brining this post up from the dead to check for updates on the Stan's headers the OP was going to install.

Resurrecting the dead here....

I did not match the ports. I think I got lucky, the intake I bought from the Hillbilly Wizard was a decent casting and it was close enough for my taste.

I went ahead and capped the vacuum line I had originally asked about. Seems to be fine, it was just emissions junk connected.

I'm still sitting on the headers. Life has gotten in the way on that one. I will respond with photos once installed.

Thanks for the advice all.
