sort of in the market for 4 nice ones....

what have you guys bought that ya like? from economy to fancy.....

i got 6ton stands from sears and o'reilley's.. good quality and price...i like them!

I got some 6 & 12 ton stands from harbor freight when they are on sale. Have 4 6's and 2 12's.

Whatever jack stands I buy now adays they will have a redundant system, like a pin that is inserted to positively lock the jack stand in place.

With 4x4s it seems we are pretty limited as to what type we can get since we need them to go higher than usual

I refuse to buy any jackstands with the pins. I don't know how many of collapsed cause the pin either sheared or the pedistal caved in. And they weren't the cheap kind of stands either. Last ones I had I paid around $100 for 2 of the 6 ton ones. Never again for me.

I should clarify the jackstands I own and like are the ones that funtion as a normal jackstand like the ones you posted but have a a pin that goes in below the locking pawl, kind of a double safety thing. While I have never had either kind fail on me I have for other reasons almost had cars fall on me and I am pretty anal about my jackstands

I ahve a few sets of little jack stands but none big enough to get a truck up in the air to do full droop and work on axles. I bought a set from Harbor Freight that was the biggest they had, 12 ton I think. Not for the weight but for the stability and height.

actually those are more than likely what i'll get, 4 of the 12 ton Harbor Freights.... mainly because they are local and i can pick em up and not pay shipping... and yeah, it'd be the size/height stability factor more than a tonnage thing... when ya jump up to 12, that max height range goes up to around 30".... much more usable for lifted trucks...

Exactly. I LOVE my 12 ton harbor freights. At the lowest height, they fit under the axle and put it at a great working height. The lowest height is approximately the highest height on my 3 ton craftsmans....

You won't regret these.

I've got a pair fo 12t that came from somewhere, and 4 6t from harbor freight, and a single 3k craftsman that just showed up one day, so I let it hang out in the garage.
