86 K5 would crank, not start. I replaced the ignition switch, which solved the problem, but now it won't shift out of park. I suspect I jammed some linkage up when I dropped the column to access the switch. I'm just not sure how to fix it.

Thanks

Wow congrats on first post.
Sorry it's an issue for your Sunday.
How far did the column come out? Did any of the shift bowl part get taken apart? Does lever at column move?
Not a complicated linkage.
You can try to romver the cross linkage under at the Trans. Set p brake/ block tire. Try to shift at trans. Check spring and plastic pivot ball it frame bracket, locking bolt tight on upper rod.

Long time lurker :)
Just unbolted and dropped the column down to access the switch, didn't pull horizontally from firewall.
Thanks, I'll check at the trans!

Yeah normally that's no big deal. I have done that 100s of times and not had an issue.
So am thinking just coincidence. Check the under truck linkage.
