Found one locally for 600.00 Seems like a pretty good deal.

this is a brand new jasper engine that was purchased in january 2010
complete motor-............................$600.00 = you can hear run
all acceseries for motor go with it

Not sure what they go for new..... depending on mileage. Is it a good deal?

can you here it run ?

can you see the gauges and check viatals. ?

if hear it run cold start for bottom end noises ?

if passes and you need motor 600 isnt to bad for good 350.

I'm planning on a rebuild next spring, i've never dealt with jasper engines. I bought a orielys auto parts 350 several years ago and had good luck with it.

I've never rebuilt a 350 before either, but thats probably the route i'll go. Its in Knoxville TN craigslist, if anybody local is interested.

hate to say this. but why reman anymore ?

get a crate motor with warrenty cheeper.

or better swap in a ls series motor for more power and much better miles per gal on the road.

Crate motor with warranty is cheaper then rebuilding a 350? I guess i can see that when you figure in machine work.... just never thought of it like that.

I probably install 15 or so Jasper long blocks a year in the boats... 350's, 454's, 496's, and 502's... then a few new Merc packages here and there....

I've NEVER had an issue with Jasper... damn good company imo... and I've probably installed almost 100 from them over the years.. I have had some questionable stuff from other "big" reman companies, like Invincable for one... but Jasper has never let me down.. and thats saying something with the #'s we buy...

ryoken has it.

if a boat man swaping a motor uses 1 brand all the time its got to be good.

as getting in and out with the motor and getting to it is vary hard on boats. you dont want to do it 2x do you. ?

yeah, I've honestly NEVER had an issue with them, and that is saying somethng...

maybe others have had issues, but their track record with me is flawless....

So 600.00 for this motor if its in good condition is a good deal? Right?

sure, if it's a straight deal...... it was probably double that at least when purchased... i'd offer 5 tho, see if he bites...

To be honest we have 100,000 dollar computer screens here that dont last 3 months some times so its a crap shoot with any thing that is reman. As far as jasper goes they are a really good company. My dads shop went out to the factory and its a pretty outstanding place. I will say this, they 100% stand behind their warrenty.

I understand what you're saying, I'm just going off of their hometown reputation.

yeah, i wasn't denying anything anyone else has to say about em, i just know i have more of a valid opinion of them than some, or even unfounded rumors possibly... if i used em twice the opinion wouldn't carry nearly the weight as it does with how many we buy...

Jasper just dropped off a 350 yesterday as a matter of fact....

Yeah I agree, if you keep having success that is great. I know they made some changes a few years back, must be for the better. They do have a good warranty and stand behind it if there is a problem. They pride themselves in a lot of areas most larger companies fall short in and I give them thumbs up for that :waytogo:
