The wife approved a one-seater.
Since jaydens cousin is getting her own, one seat is now acceptable. :waytogo:

This fact makes my life a lot easier, as centralized steering is easier to manage w/ ifs.
I can also make it a bit bigger, to fit small adults.
Which I am. :haha:

Do you guys think a rear end with no flex will survive? :dunno:

I just realized that, to make it flex, it'd have to be built like a prerunner rear;
With heims, two separate trac-bars, links, and an axle housing. :thinking:

As much as I'd love to fab up an axle housing, and do link math,
and drop $$$ into this thing like a pit.... I'm doing this, on the cheap. :D
e.g., most of this stuff I already had laying around.

Maybe I should just fab a pumpkin to go around the sprocket.
Then, weld pipe as axle tubes.
That could be done, relatively cheaply, but it's so unnecessary. :haha:
 
I was wondering what you were gonna come up with for the drivetrain working with suspension. I dont think flex is a big deal, but definately some type of suspension. Hmmm....Thinking
 
It's gonna have YFZ450R shocks.... :deal:

I'm putting the 2 fronts, in front, obviously.
I'm debating whether or not to use a single rear shock.... ?

I've decided to just use the swing arm, in its current design.
I'll reinforce the crap out of the swing arm brackets, to take the stress.

*daydreaming of a homemade axle housing, tho.
 
you can do the rear end easy with 2 pillow block bearings to hold a peice of rod stock to the arm setup you made. Run 2 bushings to capture either arm to the frame and mount the motor on the arm. Alot of those pep boys go karts are build this way and it works and is easy.\\

Single rear swing, belt drive (or chain, but there are little fingers though) like a four wheeler. Don't over engineer the simple. Make the pulleys removable so you can change gearing and a link belt for adjustability if you need to change length or tension.
 
Just found "The big bearing store" online...

They have everything from bearings to Keyed shafts, and rod ends.

Meh.... 1" DOM would do the same job.... :D

I just dropped $140 at The Bearing Store, on misc parts.
Gotta wait for those to get here.
Then, I can get the rear end mocked up, for suspension..

Gotta go to the junkyard, to get some A-arms.

Blame/credit Kert @ DIY4X. If you dig through his build thread for the crew cab, the transfer case is set up with push-button shifting. I seem to recall them being pneumatic (i.e. air) actuators, but maybe it was electric ... either way it was totally pimp and totally over engineered in such a way as to bring teh seckseh... :D

Yeah, the thing with surplus is their stock changes, so a year from now when you don't need one any more, they'll have ten sizes :haha:

Mike- I'm thinking this rig might need a mini expedition trailer too.

You could BEAST up a radio flyer...make a mini pop up.
