Hey all new here. I just bought a 78 K5 Blazer and getting ready to start on it. I am undecided on how I want to build it still and looking at some options for engines and suspension. The Blazer has some rust but not bad for Oregon. I have a thing for horse power and racing so thinking about a lsx with trimac 6 speed but already have a built lt4 that would go right in. I think it would be a blast to go road racing and hill climbing in a big tank. I am a autobody body tech by trade and bought it as a total. Going to get it up on the rack to fix the frame this weekend and will add more pictures.
Well enough about me here is some pictures.

Yah I've looked and read alot about the ridetech stuff seems solid even for handling apps.

I wanna see some modded fenders for some steam rollers on there man.

I so want a 2wd blazer

Actually, the ridetech stuff is rather good.
The 76 will be getting some airride down the road.

Yah used to be ( like years ago ) air ride meant handling was out the window the systems they have now come really close to matching coilovers. Which is awesome

Yeah it has come a long way for sure. I had a buddy with a ridetech system on a 69 camaro. Rode very smooth and cornered as hard as you needed to. Sold me.

It already has Hotchins front suspension and looking into a rear setup. I have Caltracs for it for the rear but thinking about linking it. There are so many more options for the K5 over s10's.

My thoughts are that if I do a link setup I might as well do a frame off and swap the front to a rack and pinion setup. That's what I would like to do but need to get other projects done first otherwise wife will have my balls.

I pulled the frame today. After having the Blazer up in the air and seeing the hole rig from top to bottom I have decided how I am going to build it. The rust isn't to bad but all the running gear needs to be either replaced or gone through. I did found that every bolt screw and nut I touched today was loose or missing. Not surprised the last owner wrecked it.
It will take a couple years but I am going to frame off restore it. That way I can put modern suspension in it and some meaty tires all around with a linked rear suspension and new front crossmember and rack and pinion. It will take some time to get parts and start working on it but will post progress as it goes. I have a Chevelle that I need to finish first though.
Here is my work from today.
Had to winch it up because the steering was all bound up from the wreck.

Should be a sweet build!

I've got a tko600 in my 67, love it. Best money I spent on the car.

An update. I haven't had time to work on the Blazer but did buy another one. It is a 1980 shell but has a lot of parts that I can use. The frame has good suspension and already been notched. So plans are to clean up and rebuild the frame so I can swap the body over when it is ready. It was cheaper to buy another blazer with good suspension than buy all new. Plus it has a good 12 bolt rear end with a 400 trans.

Update...
Bought a 1980 blazer that is in much better shape. Going to use some parts off of my blue one and sell the rest.
One question though is there there adaptor hood Hinges to run a newer hood on an older body?

LMC truck gives you modified hoods. I plan to order one with 2" raised center.

Have you got any further with your LT4 plans? I am close at purchasing engine my self but are split between LT4 and LSX454..
Regards
Jacob

Wow been awhile since I have been here. I am currently putting a t56 in my s10 with the lt4. Honestly with the amount of money I have into my lt4 with switching to obd2 and everything else wish I would have done a lsx but have always wanted the build that I have now. thanks on the hood link but selling the k5's and sticking with the s10.
