1985 Jeep J20 Midlothian, TX $15,000
The new drivetrain consist of a GM Performance Parts ZZ4 355hp crate motor. The motor was purchased “turnkey” from Graff Chevrolet with front serpentine drive, new ac compressor, distributor, carburetor, alternator, water pump, balancer & power steering pump. It runs great and sounds awesome. The cooling system includes a cross flow aluminum radiator from BJ’s off road and an electric fan. The transmission is also a new piece from Art Carr. It is a 700r4 with a lock up converter. They set it up with a toggle switch for the converter. The over drive will allow the Jeep to cruise at modern high way speeds at a low RPM with the converter locked for a 1:1 ratio. It also has a transmission cooler installed. The transmission was adapted to the Jeep transfer case with a part from Advance Adapters. The Jeep transfer case is a NP205 and was disassembled, inspected, rebuilt and re-sealed. Both drive shafts are new with new u joints. The front axle is a Dana 44 HD, and the rear is a Dana 60. Both differentials were serviced and inspected.
The truck is originally from New Mexico and has absolutely no rust. The truck was disassembled media blasted and painted with a two stage system. There was not much body work as the truck was extremely straight to start. The under side of the bed and inside of the bed have been sprayed with line ex. All of the rubber moldings, seals, window felts, and trim pieces have been replaced. There is a new sliding glass back window that is installed. The doors shut nice and all body lines match and gaps look good. The fender flares have been painted and smoothed. The fire wall is smoothed and under hood painted black. A nice gladiator grill is installed.
The suspension consists of a set of 4” lift springs from BJ’s off road, sway bar disconnects with new end links, new bushings, body mounts, and Rancho adjustable shocks.
The steering and front end is all new or rebuilt. To get rid of the 3 spd column shifter an ididit steering column was installed with a new steering wheel. A Vintage Air under dash AC system is also installed. The bottom of the dash was extended 4” to accommodate the air vents and heater/ac controls. The original gauge pod was replaced with a custom aluminum piece including Auto Meter fuel level, electric speedometer, tachometer, volt meter, oil pressure, water temperature, and led indicator lights. The door panels and the seat have been re-covered in black vinyl. It has a new black headliner.
The truck does need some finishing. I am getting motivated to sell so I may be knocking these things out as time goes by. The list includes:
Tail gate latch installation DONE
Vinyl floor installation
Side Marker light Installation
Tail Light Installation (missing tail lights)
Head light installation
Trim on back of cab installation
Chrome trim around wind shield installation
Locate better dash board cover
Exhaust
Bumpers
Windshield wipers

I have too many projects. I have sold many of them and the Jeep is one of the last to go. I have been hanging on to this Jeep because it is a super sweet, solid truck. I am selling it to fund a build on a 1978 Suburban that can carry the wife and kids. I have all receipts for all new parts; no expense within reason was spared. I will part from the Jeep for $15,000. I have more than my asking price in the paint and motor alone. It will take a special buyer for the Jeep. All new parts no miles since build.
