I know this is a Chevy?GM thing but I had to ask the experts. My friend's 05 Jeep Liberty's two main brake lights are out. I changed the bulbs, and they still wouldn't work. Today I changed the fuse...again it still didn't work. Before she takes it down to the local mechanic I wanted to see if anyone had a fix?

Check the plug under the rear of the jeep or behind the bumper. It's the connection from the front to each brake light, usually where trailer connections are made. Not that she is towing much with it but that's where I would start.

Brake light switch, turn signal switch, emergency flasher switch.

Brake lights go through all those.
Try wiggling the E-flasher switch while holding the brakes down. Those contacts very seldom get used and can get crudded up.

Brake light switch. The switch has two circuits. One for the chsml (3rd lamp) and a different one for the other two lights.

Also. The switch is easily damaged if installed improperly. You have to twist it 45 degrees to get it out. Then when it install the new one, you have to push the brake pedal down ( I do this with the engine running so it pushes easier with your hand) then I stall and twist to lock it in place. Let up the brake pedal. Then pull the pedal all the way up to the stop to set the ratchet mechanism in the switch. Whew......
