i got this the other night to wheel while my blazer is in disasembly.

4.0l/5spd/231/30hp/8.25 with 3.07s:doah:3.5" lift. 3 day old 32s:waytogo:.

the goofy stinger, the roof lights and the snorkel are coming off. the winch works. some of the lights work. it has one of those animal sound boxes hooked to a p/a. thats pretty funny. it runs and drives pretty dang good. the check engine lamp was on. i checked the codes. PO455 for large evap leak. so i checked the fuel cap. the tether was wrapped around the filler neck, so the fuel cap wouldnt seal. that was an easy fix. the brake pedal was almost on the floor. i checked the brakes. they where new. but the rears wherent adjusted at all. so i adjusted them. problem solved.

it needs a couple things before i wheel it. i have a dana 44 rear with 3.55s and a trac lock and some used 3.55s out of my other xj, so i might swap those in, then sparten lock the front.

thats a nice jeep:eek1: always loved the look of that body lifted

I kinda dig the snorkel, the stinger has to go though lol

here is a pic of my other one. old yeller. it only has 67k on it. i bought it new in 01' off of the last truck we ever got of cherokees. they only made solar yellow xj's for a couple of months in 01'

the black 99' was mine, but i sold it to my brother. its long armed on 33s. its a limited with every option available.

so i guess i will pull a y5mgisi and make this kind of a build thread. :D

let me start this by saying, im a cheap bastard when it comes to maintaining my vehicles. read this as i do it well but very cheap. how cheap? you will see.

here is a short list of repairs needed on this junker

water pump leaks
thermostat leaks
coolant looks like mud
rf wheel hub bearing loose
valve cover leaking
rear main and oil pan gaskets leaking
lf window regulator needs replaced
exhaust manifold is cracked

also i need to get it locked, geared, ready to go wheeling and make some performance mods. follow along as i do it very frugal like.

first thing...water pump. it was leaking like a mofo. i called a friend that works at a parts warehouse....$20 delivered. i can handle that. then i searched threw my tool box at work and came up with a thermostat and gasket. i have prob. ten gallons of coolant that didnt cost me anything. the belt looked ok, so i left it. there was a new lower radiator hose in the back of the jeep wheni got it. so i installed that while i was there. i also flushed the coolant out thouroughly as possible. clened the mud from the reservoir too.

all in all a cheap and productive day.

total invested $20

i also want to get some performance mods done. so i went to the junk yard with a buddy to get some ev6 injectors to replace the stockers.

the stock ev1 injectors have a single hole and arent very efficient. people have claimed 2mpg increases when going to the ev6 design that has 4 holes due to better fuel atomization.

we robbed 3 breeze/cirrus 2.4l and a ford 4.6 of injectors. the junk yard wanted $19 a piece:eek1:. so my buddy stuck them in his pocket and walked out while i paid for a dome light that another friend needed. otherwise that would have been $342 for used injectors....f-that.

i need to buy the rebuild kits for them next. those are super cheap. i also have a 99' up intake manifold thats worth about 15hp, i got it for free because it has a crack in it. im looking into how much that will cost. also since the exhaust manifold is cracked, i will need to weld that. so the inj-intake-ex, man repairs will pob be made at the same time.

Hehe, I like your style! I hope no one gives you a hard time about your junk yard score. Sometimes people are awfully sensitive about stealing from those thieves.

i hear ya. im messed up in the head and can justify it to myself. thier prices are so high now that i feel like im just returning the favor for when i do pay for somthing.
the price for the injectors is like $12, then they add the envirmoment fee, the core charge amd the poke in the butt without lube fee.

i put this under the same priciples of why i dont spend money at places like starbucks and mcdonalds. i hate giant corporations and thier marketing practices.

the j-yard in question was bought out a couple years ago and prices literally doubled. f-them

rant off.

i got this in the mail. the ol' spartan locker for the front. i like that it comes with a new cross pin and some grenade pins for the springs. apparently that makes it alot easier to install. we will see.

i havent had time to do much else yet. i had to go to the e.r, then take a couple days off work. but i did fold the pinch welds in the front wheel wells and trim the fender a bit more. i need to flex it up and see if or where the fronts rub.

onto the pics.

Who makes that Spartan Locker? Heard them mentioned before but never much about them.

i got some more stuff done.

replaced the valve cover gasket. there was a new felpro one in the back when i got the jeep.

finished folding the inner fender body seams with the "little" hammer.

i flexed it up on the hoist at work, the front seems ok, but the rear tires rub all over the place. so i removed the flares and all the hardware. i have a couple of places im going to cut and fold. ran out of time though.

removed the light bar.

here is the new look. i washed all the crap off that was behind the flares....but the po thought it was a good idea to paint the flares while they where still installed.:dunno:

so there is black spray paint in various spots. i will see if the detail guys at work can get it off. if not. oh well.

i got home and took this first pic of the new look. then noticed there was somthing on the roof....those would be my dikes that rode on top from work to the house. woops. atleast they didnt fall off.

almost done with my first full tank of regular driving. i think its going to get about 20 miles further than my yellow cherokee per tank. i will prob run one more tank before i start the engine mods just to make sure im accurate.

so total $ injected

water pump $20
frt locker $253
