Out of curiosity whats, the consensus on Jegs or Summit brand parts? i've only bought little non critical parts from their brands. i ask this because i was looking into a flywheel, theyre considerably cheaper than other aftermarket ones. or would i be better off just finding an original one?

I would say they are very good quality FOR THE MONEY 60% to 75% of the time.. kinda hit or miss on what vendor their using... always the cheapest option.. sometimes the quality is meh.. once in a blue moon it's crappy...

i've heard iffy things about their reusable hose ends... but i'm very happy with my northern radiators..

I used a summit brand -4AN fitting. Had a hell of a time getting it put together. All the Russell stuff or Earls has been easy assembly.

I did some concrete work for the owner of Northern a few years back, really nice guy... hot wife, hot daughter.

A friend had northern radiators in a 79 F-150 and had nothing but problems with them for some reason I dont remember now.

I had a bad experience with Summit brand cast iron cylinder heads. I caught the problem after the fact and it was waaay too late to call them out on it. Luckily the machine shop I was working with did me right and was able to fix them up.

I love Summit and will continue to buy from them but I will steer clear of the Summit branded stuff for major components.

I've used the radiators too, ordered one from each Co. both the same radiator though...northern, have nothing bad to say about them.

Also ordered a few misc small items that were pretty much worthless to me.
The biggest complaint being an air cleaner assy. with a K&N TYPE filter...you could pretty much see right through it....not something I wanted to even use, so its still sitting in a box....might go to craigslist or garage sale....I wouldn't even want to sell it to someone I know.

I used the -6an fittings they are the ones the just press on, filter, and rubber hose line from jegs had no problems with the stuff I got.

used radiator, no issues

also their brand hi flow fuel pump on a car, and same one for busa powerd sandrail. still working great

Thanks for all the info and experiences, like i've said i've bought things from their brand but no critical parts such as a flywheel... i'll just keep my eye open for other options. last thing i want is my flywheel to be fudged up and put me in a tight spot. i wonder who they source it out to anyways, i have a summit brand radiator and its clearly stamped Northern Radiators on it. again, thank you all for the quick reply

Is there a local brake and clutch shop to you? When I lived in Lincoln, I got flywheels from Lincoln Clutch and Brake. Dirt cheap and good products.

unless jegs fixed their supplier, id never buy a new distributor from them. The wires were 4x as long as they needed to be, couldnt even put the dust cover on the cap. still new in box, one day ill fix it.
