My brother has a Bombardier jet ski. He thinks he sucked some rocks up in it. The motor will not even turn over. How hard is it to pull these apart to look inside the jet prop.

sorry, but PWC's are actually one aspect of the marine biz i know very little about.... i NEVER work on them... just an occasional winterize or gel work... sounds like the impeller might be jammed up... they're pretty straight-forward to work on from what i know, albeit cramped as he!!...

I have 2 1999 GSX Limited ski's and have rebuilt both of them from top to bottom. If all he did was suck up some rocks, then you are in luck. There are 4 bolts on the bottom of the ski that hold the intake grate on. Remove the intake grate and see if you can get to the rocks fro there. If not, disconnect the VTS and steering linkage from the jet (on the back), remove the four bolts that hold on the jet pump assembly, and remove the jet pump. Easy stuff.

what he said, I've got a 97 GSX.

Nothing will fall apart on the pump, you actually have to have special tools to disassembly the pump assembly. Hopefully that is your only problem, (rocks). It would suck if your pump bearings seized.

Are you sure he didn't hydrolock the engine by sucking up water through the intake. Did he happen to roll the ski when it stopped working? Some skis also have a drain valve for thi can't remember if bombadier has it or not. Remove the spark plugs and see if water shoots out when you turn it over. If thats all it is just turn it over for a while with the plugs removed. Then stick the plugs back in and start it up.

You should be able to see if you got a rock or stick stuck in the jet pump fairly easily just by looking. It will be stuck between the outer edge of the impellar and the wall of the pump. Nothing really fancy about a jet ski pump, just an impellar in a tube.

he said they park it on the beach and then it would not start. I was thinking he sucked water in the motor myself. Far as I know he took it to a shop to have them look at it.
