Cardboard prototype...

Will have a drain plug and fill plug. Questions/comments/ideas etc?

Keep in mind that the finished cover won't be quite so blocky/angular as the cardboard thing. All the edges will be welded and ground/finished to look like one piece.

That's dead-sexy!!! May need to place an order for one of those....I can't run an aluminum cover forever you know!!!

The only suggestion left (since you seem to have nailed it) is either go with a lower-profile "button type" bolt to secure the cover, or potentially make the ring thicker so that the cap screws could be counter-sunk and sit flush..... Anything that sticks out (especially at the bottom of the cover) is just begging to be broken off or mutilated on the rocks.

Now.....where the heck are you going to put your logo on THIS design???

Looks good man. One quick comment though. From the perspective of living in New England. I'd rather see the drain and fill plugs having an exposed head, like a pipe plug, as opposed to a recessed head. That way when it seizes in place, and get rounded over, I can get a bolt extractor on it.
