ok so this might be a dumb question but I already stated that I am new to wheelin or 4x4 in general...hell my other DD is a lowered dodge dakota LOL...so anyway...I have a 1980 GMC Jimmy but I call it a chevy k5 blazer...are they the same just different package or am I an idiot?

For years GMC advertised the Jimmy and Chevy called theirs a Blazer - They each are the same thing with minor styling differences ( usually the grille ) .
Most folks , including us at CK5 , call any K5 a Blazer as a common name just like most folks in the south call all soda drinks a Coke .

Ditto.

One of my teachers called mine a Jeep. I was insulted. Everyone always corrects me when I call mine a Blazer or a truck. I feel dumb saying "Yeah, I was working on my Jimmy today." Especially in front of someone that has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.

IIRC, the hubs are different also.

Didnt they have the big bolt style instead of the allen bolts? Now Im not sure.

No, that is not correct. All K5s (& 1/2 tons of his trucks era) use the internal hubs.

The differences are in trim and options.

I have had several people ask me when Chevy built a Bronco. Talk about insulting. On the plus side I finally got my K5 emblems for the fenders, just have to get them installed.
