Dose anyone know why it says for 73-87 in the product review, I thought all the years werell the same.

There was a point in the late 80's where GM tried to add synchro's to the NP205 to allow shift on the fly like the newer 208 and 241 cases. It didn't work very well and didn't last very long. There are very few on the market, but that may be why they show that. As well as GM quit producing the 205 in the late 80's, Dodge quit in the early 90's, so it may just be that 87 was the last production year for the 205.

87 was the last year for regular pickups in that body style, so people often call our style truck the 73-87.

I say "73-87/91" and people get confused. Don't get me started about the CKRV thing =))

88-91 C/K 10/1500, R/V 10/1500. Gotta know which year had which designator. Easier to just say 1/2T 2wd or 4wd. Cant screw it up.

I am fully and personally aware of the meaning, believe you me. :doah: My point was that possibly due to that very confusion, JKW only had 73-87 listed.

I was more interested in why not pre 73, I put one on my 72 yesterday with little problem, just didnt know what the differance was in 73

I wasnt doubting you or correcting you, just further explaining how stupid it was to have so many different code changes in such a short period.

Amen, and confusing ones! I gather that the C/K-vs-something else thing reared its ugly head again later in the 90's when the body styles changed on the pickups vs the utes, but I refuse to pay attention to the newer trucks ;)
