my 78 blazer had the 350 and was changed to a FI 350 then carbed. my oil presssure guage at idle reads norm but when im cruising at 2000 rpm the guage reads 0ver red line max or going down hills but if i push the throttle further it comes back to norm? is the original oil pressure guage a lower reading guage than what would be needed for a FI engine? i belive max pressure on the guage is 60 psi. Or is there a bigger problem here? i hope someone may have seen this before.
Thanks guys.

You need to use the original sender or a replacement for an original. That way it will tell the factory gauge what it wants to know. If the motor you put in runs 60psi on the oil pump during off idle operation, then that's exactly what you are reading. My little 4.3 s10 runs over 50, so that's already close to maxing your gauge.

alright. also is it wierd that when it shifts into overdrive it goes way past max?

replace the sender, they're not that badly priced for most of the general ones. sounds bad to me.

most likely behind the distributor, sometimes they are next to/ above the oil filter. Little canister looking thing, screwed into the block.
