Ok found another video that may make you rethink the jumping...

Hey that is Jason :D
It had a D44 then, he also put a D60 later and broke it but not from jumping, he did brace that D44 later and never broke it after that but he broke shafts rock crawling so he went D60
Ryan B also boke his D60 but those jumps were nothing, I did bigger jumps with the waggy, make a big difference that it's much lighter:D

not very far or high, but still fun. I hit the jump about 5 times before they got the video right. shocks will play a big factor in your landing. I run 2 per wheel up front. somewhere I have a video on tape where I launched the truck around the distance as that white blazer.
One of the mistakes people make when jumping is that they either floor it and don't let off the gas and when they land they snap a shaft, or they fly and then when they land they hit the brakes so it snaps that housing from the shock.
What you want is a smooth transition so you wanna let off the gas a little, keeping in mind when you hit he ground you don't want to create more of a shock than you have to so leave the wheels loose to move back or forth as they have to in the landing and not having them spinning a million revs a min and hit the ground with a stop.
I will try and find my video where i flew from bowls in Pismo and caught 10 feet of air and landed on all four, smoothly rolling forward and then rolling on to the next bowl.:D
Now you got me itching, I am going to Pismo but my truck is not ready and I have no money and no Job :(

I really am going for the looks original with a clean body...and the ability to pound when necessary. I really don’t like coils...nothing personal and know they are the best suspension for long travel.

Fiberglass...I like real trucks fiberglass is not my personal fav.

I have jumped alot of vehicles and landed mostly on all 4. A few times I landed on my side...which is very cool if you make out unscathed.

I figure the welded in spring mounts and new durable springs will be my best bet. It will also cost me less.

9"?? I have not seen alot of 9" units used on the blazers? Are they able to handle the abuse? I figure the clearance would be better.

Did you hear about Pismo maybe being sold to the state?

Yes Pismo air is some of the best but also the most damage tends to happen there too.

No offense but how can you tell thats even a K5?

No offense taken, I am the owner of what's left of this 72 Blazer. Believe this or not, what you see it about the 3rd jump of the day. I was OFF the gas pedal for this shot. If I had been in the skinny pedal, there would have been much more air and much more distance.

The suspension setup is as follows, DRUM ROLL PLEASE:haha: :haha: :haha: .......... For all you Dana 60/14bolt guys....................

Front leaf springs, from a Jeep CJ5, and Rancho 9 way adjust shocks,
Rear leaf springs, Springer suspension w/ 9 way adjust shock, and for the final tally, DANA 44 FRONT AXLE W/ CROMO AXLES W/ NO TRUSS, REAR GOOD OLD 12BOLT W/ SUPERIOR 12 BOLT CROMO AXLES W/ NO TRUSS.:D

Who said 1/2 ton axles don't fly!!!!!! :haha:

All you kids watching this show, don't try this at home.........:haha: :haha:

Well what size tires do you run?

But it looks like you had fun that day!

It's all about the weight of the truck.
My waggy had the stock D44 front and rear, no special shafts, no truss, no fuss.
Just 9000 adjustables front and rear, stock flat springs with shackle flip in the back and spring over in the ront and 35" Xterrains.
I am now using a D44 12bolt combo from a GM because I switched to a centered rear output but the D44s are now under a jeep still running strong.
I canno't expect that with the weight of my full bodied blazer and the heavy(1300lbs ) diesel engine. :D

HAHA Thats my truck. 8 lug d44.

That white K5 looked like it had a D60. If I'm not mistaken RyanB's '72 with a D60 had the same thing happen at Pismo or Glamis.

White one was mine. 8 lug D44. Ryan did the same thing in almost the same spot the next year. But we got his out quicker. like 2 hours vrs the 5-6 it took me.
