So I'm starting to collect parts for a turbo setup from a 6.5 TD to go on my 6.2. I just came home with an intake manifold, the upper plenum, airbox, downpipe, and the turbo for 90 BUCKS!!!
Even better, the turbo is a GM-8, that is the best one they made! It looks to be in good shape and there is no evident endplay on the shaft.
So what if I had to remove it myself? Besides, someone else took something out of the junkyard truck, so the intake manifold was pretty much just sitting there, not even bolted in.

Who says you cant find good stuff in the junk yards...i gotta go as well and see what nice **** i can find.

All of our yards around me have nothing but newer stuff.

Same here typical conversation

what ya looking for blah, blah, blah part
what year (insert pre 90 year here)
Sorry that's to old we don't have anything in our yard
but your more than welcome to look around that will be two dollars please

The different yards here are in direct competition with each other, so now it's only a buck to get in and free wheel barrows and engine hoists. plus they are starting to get a lot cleaner. Less trash strewn around

Mnstrburbon and I find parts every now and again; 205's, figure 8 pattern, round ,divorced, hydro clutch sets,4l80e's,and sometimes the occasional Dana 60 front.
