I am nearing completion on my 1-ton swap and before i pony up the bucks on altered driveshafts Is there beefier stock yolks out there from the factory for a 14bff, it would be nice to eliminate the straps but bigger u-joints would be prime too. Also same question on my front D60 yolk, heard lots of stories of weak yolk. Seems plausable it looks wussy.Flat flanges are a possibility. Not sure if it matters but the axles were from a 85CUCV, and yeah i still have the NP208 in place, and have a cadi-cv from TH400 equiped cadi. Ill have to live with the cadi cv for now. Yes i know they arent very much to buy new but i live for a good excuse to go to Pick-N-Pull

You're not going to find anything for the 14 bolt, and the joint size (1350) is plenty stout, but as you mentioned its the straps that are weak. Aftermarket is really the only way to address that.

As for the D60 you'll have to find the yoke from another D60, be advised that ALL Chevy D60's use a 1310 joint. so you'll need to find one from a Ford, Dodge or IH.

IMO check ebay or a vendor, bigger D60's yokes aren't very common at all IME.

find a yoke from a dana 70 rear off an older truck and it can have the ubolts and 1350 joint size.

Whoa! Stop the presses! Lets get your learned before things get too carried away.

"Yolk" is referred to eggs.

"Yoke" is referred to the u-joint connection part on all vehicles for driveshaft related parts.

Not trying to make you look like an ass or anything but just giving you a heads up.

Damn , i stand corrected, I studied a-hole-ology and not english. I am a master in the latter . Thanks boys keep the hits coming. But seriously about the mod for the 14bff YOKE. ?lol

Don't get all butt hurt

You can modify the stock yoke for u-bolts but its not easy. The right way involves a mill.

The DIY way involves cutting the backside of the yoke (the threads for the bolts are too deep for u-bolts) and grinding flats for the nuts to rest against. Then you need to modify the two holes (the holes for the u-bolts are closer together than with straps). Unfortunately you can't simply do this with a drill bit, you need to open up only the inside because drilling the hole out to a size big enough will leave no material left on the outside of the holes.
