So Friday I went and gased up the 1967 Ford bus to take the youth to the movies. Coming back from paying I noticed coolant running out and I looked and found that the water pump was leaking bad. I was only 2 miles from the church so I put some more coolant in and took off. I made it about a half a mile and them BOOM! BOOm! and I limped it off the road into a friends yard.

SO last night the church decided to just give it to me!!! Now I get to make a redneck RV!

Anyone have any ideas what happen with the boom boom!

The only time I heard a boom from the engine was when a rod let go and blew cylinder wall out of the pan. I heard boom from my rear end once, but again, that was teeth going through the cover. In my experience boom is not a good sound. Boom bad, mmmkay? How was the temp before the boom boom? Have you popped the hood since? If the water pump was leaking, it's possible that the bolts came out and the boom was just the pump hitting the crank. not likely, but possible.

I didn't have time to really look at it then but I know water was straming out from under it and water had went everywhere in the engine bay. I was thinking I blew the water pump off the front of the block with so much pressure. As far as temp, it just started to rise when it happened. Not even close to being HOT just yet.

Don't forget - No bus converted to redneck r.v. is complete without a working wood stove and pipe out a window.

motor is wasted i can tell you that much. last one no last two that went booom had rods through the block. you might consider converting it to a diesel ,like from out of a two and a half ton truck(6.6 ford new holland with five speed box and two speed rears ) good combination.
