hi i just bougth an 87 blazer. it has a 12" superlift on the front and a ? lift on the back, but it is not 12". it has a block but the truck is low in the back. what is the cheapest way to get it to 12" in the rear. i just want something to get the truck on the road and my be a little playing. can any one help? oh and will i need a longer drive shaft with a 12" on the back? or can i just get a drive shaft out of a swb truck or a lwv truck let me know thanks

How much lower is it in the rear?
You could do a shackle flip kit, like this one http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=125 and get rid of the blocks.

You will just need to then measure and have a new drive shaft made. With that much lift you might also need to lower your tranfer case and get a CV joint on your shaft

K5 short wheelbase x 12" of lift = severe angles on ujoints!

i would just drop that front down. 12 is awfully high and it sounds like your missing some parts for it. hows the steering? did they change any of it?

It is probably an 8" spring and a 4" block. The only way to get a 12" spring was to have them custom sprung. Superlift made a 12" swamprunner kit that was 12" front spring and 8" rear with a block. The rear springs tend to wear out faster than the fronts and the result is butt sag.

or you don't own it

edit: btw you dont want 12" in the rear.
generally 9-10" of lift and rear will be good for 12" front springs.

also, wait a year and a half and you wont have to have to have "inspection"

On a side note: with Maine's laws, I think you may find a bit o'trouble geting that thing inspected with 12" of lift.

12" springs won't be out of the ordinary at all in Florida. This Blazer will probably be one of the shortest trucks in the bog:eek1:. Most trucks down there run tractor tires for the mud, but you said you're wanting to go on the road some. What type and size tires are you going to run? What axles do you have?

i am only thinking of running a 40 for tires but i might run a 44. it only has 10 bolt front and rear i am going with eather a 14 bolt and a dana 60 or just dana 60 front and rear. i am building it on the cheap for now just fixing the stuff that need fixed. going to 4 wheel part right now to get the stering parts and a 8 in lift for the rear

if you keepin 12" in front, those 40's gunna look small.

simple man, go with the 44's, do the one ton swap with 14 rear, NOT the 60 rear.

you will be foreva happy with the decision.:wink1:

gear your axles..
worry about steering upgrade sooner than later
