Hi guys. I'm new to these vehicles (bought mine a couple days ago) and I'm having some trouble with the fuel gauge and rear power window.

I tried searching but being new couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

My fuel gauge is constantly reading full. I read that it could be a ground problem in the sending unit but I have no idea where that is located. I notice when I reach up underneath the dash and rub my fingers behind the gauge the it starts to work for a while.

The problem with my rear window is if I put it below 3" it will not go back up. the guy that had it before me said he replaced the motor thinking that was the problem, but it did not fix it.

I would appreciate any help.

Edit: I heard that you could change the bulbs in the cluster with out removing it. Is this true?

Sounds like the the fuel gauge problem is in the dash if rubbing it causes it to work temporarily. There's a flat, printed "circuit board" of connections across the back of the cluster that powers it all (including the bulbs, which are indeed changeable without removing the cluster if you're dextrous enough and can work by feel!) It sounds like this is where your problem is. I've got something similar going on with mine, but it's the light connections on mine... even with new bulbs some of them are dim and some don't work at all...until I reach up under the dash and press on the backside, then they brighten up.

As for the rear window, I don't have any help there as mine is manual, but my guess is that one of the pivot points on the various arms and levers that support and move the window is disconnected or broken causing the window mechanism to bind up as it nears the top. Does the glass become "crooked" in the tailgate at any point in its travel?

Thanks I appreciate the help. I'll have to get under there some more to pin point the source of the problem. The glass stays even when its going up or down. when I looked behind that panel everything looked fine to me.

For the gauge , the long plug that goes into the cluster could be loose . You can reseat it , but need to remove the bezel and partially remove the cluster forward .

( I have no a/c in my buggy truck , I just reach up through the drivers vent hole LOL )
