Now I know this should be in the introduction thread but I have to many questions for that thread.... So anyways my names Rob I'm 18 and I just bought an 84 K5 Blazer. It has a 350, 6" of suspension lift and 3" body lift and well pretty much everything else sucks, I paid $500 for the truck. Heres some pics of the beast.

Ok, now for questions I have that havent been answered by reading these foumrs for hours.
1- The rear end is blown and it has 3.73 10bolts. I was thinking of buying an 8 lug 12 bolt donor truck and strealing the axles from that, is this a wise decesion or should I should I just get a beefier 6lug 3.73 posi rear?
2- It has quad steering stabalizers, now they look good, perform good on the road but just looking at them I know there gonna get destroyed off-roading should I build a skid plate for em or ditch em for a simpler setup?
Thanks for looking, Im open to any comments abroad about the truck negative or positive :)

1. There is no 8 lug 12bolt. All chevy 8 lugger rears were 14sf or 14ff. Also there is no beef in any 6 lug.:wink1:

2. Thats a lot of shocks. I've never seen that many on the steering unless it was a show truck. Just get bigger tires and that will lift them up out of harms way.:D

well what I meant was beefier.... ok so in that case should I got the 8 lug 14bolts? I guess the shock idea isnt to bad, if I smash one wheeling will it make the truck non-driveable?

Those shocks do look like a battering ram. I'd run them til I did smash them or take one set off to have as a spare.

Yep. Go with the 14 bolt full floater. Somebody else will have to chime in about matching the 3.73 ratio. Meaning if it exists, then what year trucks they could be found in.

If I got an 8 lug donor truck and put w/e gearing I wanted in both axles would the front axle bolt up my truck easily? Also another question I'm curious if the lift was done right, the lift its self the driveshafts ect. If I took detailed pictures of it would be visible if it was done right?

An 8 lug truck would bolt right up for the front. On one tons you need to move the spring perches out an inch on both sides for the rear.

Post up a pic and lets see

nice truck, ditch the 3 inch body lift. and put 1 inch on it from ord.. u'll be happier with it..

lose the body lift, nerf bars (if they hang below the frame) 3 extra steering stabilizers, and keep the suspension lift. slap some bigger rubber on there to match your regearing. i'm guessing those are 31s, maybe 33s. they don't look nearly as big as my 33s, but's probably because you're 9" taller.

I dont like the body lift either but was kinda against spending time and money to lower the truck but still considering it. The rear lift does have new leafs and stuff but it does rely greatly on a rear block that looks I'd say 4" tall... went to take pics of the lift and stuff but cameras dead will take em tommarow. The truck has a 32" tire driver front the rest are 30"..
