Just scored a pretty nice 89 Caribou (by Lance). I'll be mounting it on my 85 K20 and was wondering what everyone thought about tie downs. Most of the brands do not fit my year of truck, but I have found these:

(Can't post links or pics yet, Google "Super Heavy-Duty Camper Hold Downs by Brophy")

Are these any good? They don't require any drilling, so it makes me think they won't be that secure. Anyone have suggestions or other tie downs that I should look into? I'm trying to stay under 150, 200 Max. I also have access to a machine shop and welders. So if anyone has some sweet custom ideas, let me know.

Would something like this help? They bolt to the bed between the cab and the bed...

My families last camper was a Lance. Used whatever they gave us. Then with the new truck, we wanted something hidden and went with FastGun/ SuperHitch system. O and front stabilizers are WAAAAY worth the money!!!

PS> you need to be a member to view attachments. Pics from websites are viewable. Here's mine, the mounts are all bolt on and under the truck. They all come off with a pull of a pin, the bolted part stays on the frame. Worked great.

Torklift tie downs are fantastic and adapt easily even if they are not offered for your truck. They are the makers of the fast gun superhitch system. They even show a truck rolling over with a slide in camper and it never comes out. The tie-downs that are attached to sheet-metal in anyway are weak and you will get a lot more sway out of them. The ones that tie into the frame are not hard to install and are solid.
