Just got a 225 amp lincoln arc welder!!!!!

as far as I know, a 220 plug is a 220 plug, the prongs might be a little bit different shaped, so watch out for that. Just make sure it matches your outlet.

Good thinkin' Shannon, I'm notorious for fitting square pegs in round hole and me and electricity have our differences.... /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif I'm sure it would work the way it is but I tend to wanna jury rig my own stuff instead of sending out to do it, that could cost $ , Maybe I'll just replace the electrical tape he used to weasle it together , looks kinda old...LOL /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

WRONG!!!!
there is a difference in a 15 amp dryer plug and a 225 amp welder plug, and i just learned that the hard way. go to Lincoln Electric.COM and find out or read on the back, what amp is needed, or I can check my book for you. I am kinda same predicament, need a SUPER HIGH amp extension cord to run it outside of the basement. be safe, not DEAD, or on fire.

um that was jeff not me lmao!!!!!!!!

i just had to add a 50amp circuit for my new welder
6/3 wire required for a 50amp
8/3 for a 30amp
and each amperage has its own plug

tRusty needs to drag a bunch of you PNWers up here for a trip to the hotsprings on West Harrison Lilloet Rd. I am not to far from there to use as a repair facility.
I just noticed your forum is more normal then the last time I looked at it and am tempted to pay up if it remains stable (if anything that should frighten the members of PNW) though we need to change the name to Pacific SOUTH West when you cross the border

mj you are more than welcome to join us in our pnw forum /forums/images/icons/smile.gif i would love to come up and wheel with you guys up there and i do hope that i do someday /forums/images/icons/smile.gif you could also come down and do some wheeling with us when rene comes down next time /forums/images/icons/smile.gif oh and yes now our forum will stay mellow now that certin members are no longer active in that forum /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
