I use Energizer lithium AA's in my legend. They work alot better in sub zero conditions, and last sooooo much longer then traditional alkalines. They also weigh less, a good thing when backpacking. Only downfall is the price. I haven't tried rechargables, but I am reluctant to because most are only 1.25v as opposed to 1.5v. Not sure if it will make a difference or not?
Where did you buy your etrex vista and how much did you pay. I've been wanting one for a while now and had my eye on the etrex legend until i seen the etrex vista and it seems to have more usefulness than the legend or at least to my liking.

Step one would be getting my truck mobile again...
Still waiting on drivelines, and have a few little things to finish up. After that I'll be looking for something reasonably mellow to shake out the bugs etc. After that I'll definitely be up for some wheelin.
I'm thinking a Sunrise run would be a good shakedown run. It's a run I've done often so I'll also get to do some sort of direct comparison, and it's not so far off the beaten path that if I have problems it's not that big a deal.

I picked it up on ebay. It's the VistaCx, with color screen and memory stick port. I don't remember what I paid, but it was a good deal cheaper than retail.
