Just got a tach...Where to put it?

I don't have one but it appears that one might have been mounted on top of the column between the speedo and gas gauge on mine (can't figure any other reason for the 2 drilled holes on top of my column except for some sort of gauge)

Where did you get that tac let me know. link if you can.

I think it was a JCWhitney purchase back in the day, I think they have a 4digit display now. It was about $45 I think. It works for me, just needed to know idle and HW cruising RPM's.

tell me about it I haven't had a radio in a DD for about 3yrs had my radio jacked out of my old car and never got around to replacing it and when I got my truck it didn't have one in it and I don't have the extra $ to go and get one plus speakers right now

I moved my gas gauge to the lower left hand "small" gauge slot that was empty from the factory by making a new small face for it. Then the tach went into the large slot side by side with the speedo the way it's supposed to be. Here's a shot of the tach face. I just drew it on a PC, printed it out on transparency film and attached it. The tach itself is one of those SunTech mini tachs you can find at any parts store. This pic is from my first version, but afterwards I decided it was way to ricey to have an 8000rpm tach on my pushrod V8. To convert it from a 8k rpm to a 6k rpm tach I just drew a 6k scale and set the unit to 6-cylinder mode.

It looks pretty much stock. The 6k one doesn't have the splochy white like this one did. I think I posted more about this sometime if you want to search for it.

I thought about doing this very same thing. I abandoned the idea in a fit of laziness but now I see that it's feasible.

Nice job.
