Alright, so that guy had his 14bff converted to front axle, so how hard would it be to change a dana 60 rear to a front? new axle tubes? I find rear 60s for so cheap, someone help me save like 500 billion dollars hah :doah:

wehn i first read this. i thought same as the 14ff...costs too much not worth it blah blah blah custom axle shafts.

i guess you could cut the tubes, adn get a set of knuckles and knuckle mounts. and use stock 60stuff...

no chance it would be cheaper. the only reason that guy did the 14bolt to front is cuz thats badass, doing a rear 60 to a front 60 would be a waste of money. you can find a bare front d60 housing for less than $200 easy

Just a random idea, i'm sure it could be made to cost less then buying a front 60. sorry my brain runs wild sometimes. I don't think the badass rating would differ between the two. I'm sure a custom rear to front 60 would be enough to pat yourself on the back for..hah..

If I put this on it, it would have to have a badass rating of like 150,000 for sure.

Isn't part of the reason people go to Dana 60's , from the knuckle out ?

The knuckles with the four bolts at the top for the arms , and the fact that its kingpin . Isn't that part of the reason ?

.... oh and the tubes are thicker .

If it was just for the center section , I would use a 14bsf centersection , big bearings , 33 spline , and a 9.5 inch ring gear :thumb:

I went to a 60 for the diameter of the axle shafts. If 60's had ball joints everyone would run them.

The reason its not cheap to make a front 60 out of a rear is where would you get the shafts, brakes, hubs, C's and knuckles from? you either need to buy new or hack up another 60. :doah:

Tell ya what, you build a high pinion pro-rock center with 5.13 gears and an ARB, weld tubes and C's on it and I'll trade you cash and my low pinion 4.56 geared open axle housing for it. thats a much better starting point for you. then you would only need shafts, knuckles, hubs, spindles, brakes, and steering. :D
