Just rebuilt the engine, but it won't start... ----UPDATE! IT STARTS!!!----

Re: Just rebuilt the engine, but it won\'t start, please help!

Alright, I got it to run... it was the valves. Here is how my mechanic told me to adjust them.
Tighten them down until you can barenly move the pushrod up and down any, but it will turn freely. Then turn the nut another turn and a quarter. I did this and it runs. I am not sure how well, it was late when I got it to run and the neighbors were complaining so I shut it down as soon as it started to run. I will try again on thursday. What do you guys think about adjusting them this way? Should I re do it one of the ways listed? Thanks for all the help, I am so glad it starts!

There's one step missing there. Before doing this adjustment, the lifter for the valve being adjusted MUST be on the base circle of the cam. So you have to rotate the engine to the correct spot before making the adjustment. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
