What does the K-5 on the fender emblem stand for or represent?

Thank you, Ed

"K5 , a sex club in Prague, Czech Republic"

:haha::haha::haha:

im guessing here but i'm gonna assume that the "K" means 4x4 like the rest of the chevy line, but what about the 2wd models? I guess they couldn't call it a K-10 b/c thats a 1/2 ton truck....good question though... lets see what the experts on this site come up with :p:

the reason why I ask is becasue I converted my blazer to 1 ton so I wanted the emblem to reflect that. I see on the 1 ton trucks were it says Custom 30 or 1/2 ton with 15 and 10. thats why asked the question what does K-5 stand for or represent.

one more question, what does the start like thing under the K-5 BLAZER represent or stand for?

thanks,
Ed

C10 = 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton truck
K5 = Blazer 1/2 ton
K10 = 1/2 ton truck
K20 = 3/4 ton truck
K30 = 1 ton truck.

You didn't read the link :deal:

R and V are only for 1987-91.

I did read the link. Did he say what year his K5 was? Since it says 1988 in his profile I assumed that's what he was asking about.:whistle:

In that case, it would be the proper designation.

I would just hack up a k30 emblem and make yours say k30blazer

or what ever.

Your blazer though is no more of a 1 ton than it was before, you would need to add some serious springs and a frame still:p:

thats what i thought all along...a K10 Blazer. I guess Chevy wanted a different designation for the Blazer so they called it a K5. :dunno:

Thanks, I never thought of that, but a 1 ton (30), would it be any less a 1 ton or (30) if it had softer springs to alow it to articulate better of road?

Thank you every one for all you replys, you've all been a big help.
Thanks,

Ed

The terms are just the factory payload rating anyways.

A blazer's GVWR minus the curb weight = apprx. 1,500 lbs.

For the trucks, take the GVW rating minus the curb weight and it comes out to more than one ton

The terms are screwy and do not really fit anymore considering the higher GVWR of newer trucks.

personally If the truck can drive down the road safely with the trailer, not make me white knuckled, not take out the trans and can stop in time..your good to go
