just wanted to add something to this one.
where is the fuel filter on an 86 350 at, and how can you tell if it needs to be replaced? i have 64,000 miles currently and doubt that it has ever been changed.

I asked K&N the same question! For my motor, 350 w/Edelbrock Q-jet 750cfm and Performer intake, K&N said the 4"x14" would be the Max size to run! A 5" or 6"high would NOT give me any benifits with the air flow!
So I bought a 4"x14" from http://www.summitracing.com

Burt is right. A 4"x14" is fine for you. I got a 5" high which flows 914cfm. My tired 350 will never flow more than 600cfm. I got it just for looks. After I replaced my stock intake manifold with an Edelbrock Performer, the butterfly nut scratches my hood

I also got it from Summit.

...and that's two old hands telling you LOL
