I have an `88 Burb, 4 wheel drive, has a "20 Scottsdale" badge on the front fenders. Is it properly referred to as a V20 or K20 or something else?

Side note, it was sold to me as an `88, (and looks the part), and I'm pretty sure that's what's on the title. But for all I know it could be another similar year. Is there some place I can run the VIN to confirm? What else could I get out of the VIN regarding how it was equipped if the build code sticker is missing?

1987 the c/k swapped to r/v for the upcoming 1988-up new body design to keep the old c/k name badges .

so in short c & r = 2wd
and also the k & v = 4wd

73-86 are c/k and 87-91 are r/v.
Your 88 burb would be referred to as a v20 because in 88 the new body style came out and those were called the c/k.
Somewhat confusing at first.

Thanks for the replies. It's never made sense to me why GM changed C/K to R/V. Isn't that the same time that they went from 10, 20, 30 to 1500, 2500, 3500? If so, what would have been the problem with having K20 and K2500, etc, etc, in the same year? You would know that it was a 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel from the letter and which body style from the series number. Or am I missing something there?

In that same vein; I also have a `91 Blazer. Old body style but new front clip with the double side by side headlights. It has a "1500" badge on the lower door trim, like the `92 and up new body style Blazer/Tahoe models. Is my `91 a K5 or a K1500?

To muddy up the water...

Per GM the 91 isn’t a K5 anymore, it’s a V10 (even though the trim says 1500). lol

Be careful when buying parts for a V-series GM truck. Many parts people will think you said "C" instead of "V", and since V is at the bottom of the alphabetical model drop down tab they will not scroll down far enough to find V. This is why you end up with the wrong part a lot of times when trying buy them for a GM/V-series truck. Ask me how I know this?

Lord have mercy, that V3500... That would look nice parked next to my V10 Blazer. I've always had a thing for that short window of time where you got the new front clip on the 80s body.
